(More customer reviews)To soften the fabric of the comforter, I washed it in an extra large washer on gentle. After washing, I discovered the batting extremely lumped up 1 foot around all sides of the comforter. I line dryed it, then opened the side seams to manipulate the batting back into place and better attatch it to the seems. I also "machine quilted" the comforter in multiple places so it will wash better the next time. I still feel I paid a reasonable price for the whole set. It will be fine for a college dorm.
